A Deliciously Simple Scotch Fillet Dinner for Busy Families

In today's fast-paced world, getting a delicious and satisfying dinner on the table can feel like a monumental task. That's where the beauty of a quality cut of meat and the convenience of frozen vegetables come in. We're here to show you how to create a mouth-watering Scotch Fillet meal for a family of four that's both easy and impressive.

What is Scotch Fillet?

First, let's talk about the star of the show. Scotch Fillet, also known as Cube Roll, is a cut of beef from the rib section of the cow. It's a boneless rib-eye steak, prized for its tenderness, rich flavour, and beautiful marbling. That marbling is key, as it melts during cooking, basting the meat from within and ensuring a juicy, succulent steak every time. Here at our butchery, you'll find premium "Whole Yearling" Cube Roll by the kilogram, perfect for slicing into thick, family-sized steaks. In our refrigerated display, you'll see these magnificent cuts, vacuum-sealed to lock in their freshness, showcasing their beautiful marbling and fat caps.

An Easy Recipe for a Family of Four

This recipe is all about simplicity and flavour, letting the quality of the meat shine.

Ingredients:

* 4 x 200-250g Scotch Fillet (Cube Roll) steaks * 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil * Salt and freshly ground black pepper * 1 bag of your favourite frozen vegetables (a mix of peas, corn, and carrots works wonderfully) * A knob of butter (optional) * Garlic powder or your favourite steak seasoning (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steaks: About 20-30 minutes before cooking, take the steaks out of the fridge. This allows them to come to room temperature, which helps them cook more evenly. Pat them dry with a paper towel, drizzle with olive oil, and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides. If you're using other seasonings, add them now.

2. Cook the Steaks: Heat a heavy-based frying pan, griddle pan, or barbecue over a high heat. You want it to be sizzling hot. Place the steaks on the hot surface and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for a medium-rare steak. Adjust the cooking time to your liking – less for rare, more for medium to well-done. For an extra touch of flavour, add a knob of butter to the pan in the last minute of cooking and spoon it over the steaks.

3. Rest the Steaks: This is a crucial step! Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest on a plate or cutting board for at least 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavourful steak.

4. Cook the Veggies: While the steaks are resting, it's time for the super-simple side dish. Cook the frozen vegetables according to the packet instructions. You can steam them in the microwave for a healthy option, or pan-fry them with a little butter and a sprinkle of salt and pepper for a richer flavour.

To serve, slice the rested Scotch Fillet steaks and arrange them on plates with a generous portion of your colourful, steaming vegetables. This simple, satisfying meal is perfect for any night of the week, proving that a busy schedule doesn't mean you have to compromise on a delicious family dinner.
